Connecticut-See the Data

Upon a detailed review of voter registration data in the State of Connecticut purchased from the Secretary of the State in December 2022, August 2023, and June 2024 we have identified the following registration anomalies:

registered voters who haven’t voted in at least four years, and who need to be canvassed.

registered voters who have been inactive for five years or more, and are now legally due to be placed on the official ‘off-list.’

registered voters whose voter registration date is listed as 1/1/1800 among numerous other registration anomalies.

We would like to know:

Are these oversights and discrepancies the result of insufficient resourcing and/or support from the Secretary of State? Is there a general lack of awareness among the elected registrars who are responsible for maintaining our voter rolls? Or is there potentially just a shortage of man hours needed to accomplish these tasks?

As quoted from an email correspondence with Secretary of State, Stephanie Thomas, on August 23rd

“The registrars of voters in each town are responsible for the maintenance of their towns’ voter rolls.”

The discrepancies we have uncovered highlight the urgent need for a comprehensive review of Connecticut’s entire voter registration system.
